Seymour Sprayregen, MD, FACR, FSIR, has authored the Radiology Department contrast media policy and he is highly sought after as the go-to individual in the radiology department on all issues concerning contrast media. With an interest in plain film radiology of the chest, he is particularly passionate about the accurate diagnosis of congestive heart failure. Dr. Sprayregen continues to interpret the largest number of radiographs in the Department of Radiology at Montefiore. Prior to his current endeavors, he served as Commander in the US Public Health Service and the Associate Chief of Radiology at the US Public Health Service Hospital in Staten Island, NY (1966 – 1968), Director of Vascular and Interventional Radiology at Montefiore (1968-1988), and Acting Chairman of Radiology at the Moses Campus (1988-1991). Seymour Sprayregen, MD, FACR, FSIR, is a 1960-graduate of The Chicago Medical School in North Chicago, Illinois, where he received induction into the AOA Honor Society. His postgraduate training includes his internship served at Philadelphia General Hospital (1960 – 1961), as well as his radiology residency performed under Dr. Harold Jacobson (Diagnostic Radiology) and Dr. Charles Botstein (Radiation Therapy). Dr. Sprayregen completed his undergraduate education, his Bachelor of Science degree with Honors, at the University of Wisconsin. He attained board certification in diagnostic radiology with the American Board of Radiology. Furthermore, he has been honored as a Fellow of the American College of Radiology (FACR) and a Fellow of the Society of Interventional Radiology (FSIR). He is a member of several professional societies and associations, which allows him to remain at the forefront of his challenging field.
